State Fair

So when I use two different cameras, I sometimes forget to post about activities we've done and places we've gone.

The kids and I made a trip to Grand Island for the State Fair on Labor Day.  We never made it last year and I was eager to see the new facilities.  And I was really impressed!  The barns were huge, cool, and surprisingly odorless for the number of animals they contained.  The grounds were clean and the layout was nice.

Liam got in for free with his Summer Reading Program completion and Maggie was free because she's just a wee bit of a thing still.  In addition to getting in free, Liam also got a ribbon, coloring book, and coupons for free or reduced prices on things.

We were lucky in that we got to spend our day with Grandma and Grandpa, as they were volunteering at the fair that day!  They split their time volunteering and hanging out with us, which was a big help to me--running around a large, heavily populated fair with two small kids is no picnic :)

Grandma took our Reading Program packet over to get the free coloring books (she had one for Maggie as well) and the lady ended up giving us 4 more packets.  Which meant 4 more free rides!  There were few rides that Maggie could go on so she ended up going on the Carousel 3 times and loved every second of it.  She still talks about it!  "Horse.  Go up down up down. rouuuund, rouuuuund."

 There were very few options for Liam to go on alone, so he did the Carousel once, a spinning ride once and this cool dragon ride once.  Despite all that, he still wanted to go on the Ferris Wheel--one of his whole reasons for wanting to go to the fair.  It cost us $10, but it was totally worth it, according to him :)
